The recent announcement shocks a lot of people and Manny Pacquiao will surely benefit with this. Imagine the upcoming Manny Pacquiao versus Shane Mosleymatch will be featured via Showtime/CBS pay-per-view instead of the HBO PPV. Arum and Showtime closed the deal last Friday afternoon and the report said that part of the deal involves CBS airing commercials for the fight during primetime TV. This will expand the horizon of reach for the May 2011 boxing event. Showtime and its sister company CBS will be joining forces to give time and promotion for the Pacquiao-Mosley fight.
Compare to HBO, CBS + Showtime got a larger audience and mass exposure is impressively great. As Examiner.com said, “With the biggest name in the sport, Manny Pacquiao, heading to Showtime/CBS, this could be historical shift in Boxing promotional power between Showtime and HBO.”
In the same report, CBS/Showtime will also make the same sports documentary series as same as HBO’s 24/7 for Pacquiao vs. Mosley.
What do you think? Will CBS/Showtime handling the highly anticipated boxing of the year will really benefit the event?
